SOURCED FROM eco-friendly brands.

We’ve curated some of our top design brands whose mission is to provide ethically-sourced, long-lasting and timeless furniture pieces. Sustainable design takes many facets that contribute to the well-being of our health, society, and planet. These brands fulfill the following principles:

FSC CERTIFIED

“Forest Stewardship Council” certified shows that you comply with the highest social and environmental standards on the market. It is a designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.

CRAFTMARK CERTIFIED

Handmade by sustainably employed traditional artisans

ETHICALLY ELEVATED

Putting artistry above efficiency, fair wages above profits and mass production, quality craftsmanship above mindless consumption, and transparency above everything

RECYCLE MATERIALS

Items that have been made using old materials that have been broken down and repurposed into something new

VEGAN

Furniture products that don't contain wool, leather, silk, fur, down, or any other products that were derived from animals.

FAIR TRADE

Items sourced from creators around the globe working with their hands to create unique, functional and/or decorative items using traditional techniques. The items do not come from mass factories, but rather are sourced through fair trade directly with the masters of their craft.

OEKO-TEX CERTIFIED

Products are safely made without any harmful chemicas or synthetics

ORGANIC

Furniture using non-toxic fabrics to help keep your body safe. Organic is better for you (no harmful pesticides, fertilizers, dyes or finishes), the people who farm it and the earth

RECLAIMED MATERIALS

Reusing a product in its existing form either for its original purpose or an alternative purpose. No extra machine power is needed to process the material.

APT2B

High quality, custom upholstered seating and a full selection of furniture and decor, makes Apt2B one of the most versatile online retailers out there. Their modern, eco-friendly couches are American-made featuring locally sourced sustainable materials and soy based seat cushions. By relying on e-commerce only, Apt2B bypasses the costs of rental spaces and third-party vendors so it can focus on the highest quality standards including making custom furniture with non-toxic materials within 3-5 weeks.

ARHAUS

Established in 1986, Arhaus is committed to providing furniture and decor that is sustainably sourced, lovingly made, and built to last. Through their “Green Initiative”, they partner with artisans around the world to use reclaimed, sustainably sourced, and recycled materials as much as possible. Additionally, they support a variety of organizations that share their vision for caring for the environment and improving the lives of those in need, including Habitat for Humanity, American Forests, Global Dental Relief, and the Small World.

AVOCADO

If you’ve ever purchased an eco-friendly mattress, chances are you’ve come across Avocado. But did you know this B Corp offers reclaimed furniture as well? Handmade in sunny California using 100 percent reclaimed wood (without retardants or chemicals), Avocado furniture is sustainable through and through. The brand also gives one percent back to environmental causes as well and is certified to be climate neutral.

BURROW

Burrow is the internet’s favorite couch, and it’s easy to see why: not only are these sofas and sectionals comfy, stain-resistant, and pet-friendly, but they’re also responsibly sourced and made in the USA. Shipped in 100 percent recycled cardboard boxes, furniture arrives in modules that can be easily assembled, disassembled, or even re-arranged. Plus, Burrow’s furniture is free of lead, flame retardants, and formaldehyde, so it’s made to last with your safety in mind.

THE CITIZENRY

The Citizenry partners with artisans from all around the world—from Mexico to Mali, Ireland to Argentina—to offer high-quality handcrafted creations in limited quantities. Whether it’s a bathroom sauna set built from locally sourced hinoki wood or a butterfly chair made from rattan vine, the pieces are created start-to-finish in a fair and safe environment. The Citizenry also invests 10 percent of its proceeds back into artisan communities through entrepreneur development grants.

ETSY RECLAIMED FURNITURE

While Etsy is best known for handmade and original pieces, the company also works with sellers who reclaim and upcycle furniture—from wooden wall art to pallet coffee tables. Etsy itself is a certified B Corp, which means it puts people and the planet at the forefront. With so many artists, you’re sure to find your one-of-a-kind piece from all over the world. New designs are added daily, too, so keep an eye out. You never know when you may score a one-of-a-kind treasure.
